Well, from the absolute beginner’s point of view : Who can top this!? Hopefully after finishing 23 things learning program more of us beginners will be at least 1/2 as efficient.

It’s about sharing, and avoiding using bloody awful Microsoft Office products … but there are definitely some privacy concerns.

It’s more about the nature of the “virtual hard drive” than anything else. I personally prefer open office word processing above Microsoft or Google Docs . The advantage that Google Docs has whoever, is the ability to access your work from any place that has an internet connection. It avoids the potentiality of hard drive failure and it’s free.
Addressing what Rebecca says about privacy concerns, if you have an internet connection there are just as many privacy concerns for any document or file living on your computer. Of course, questions are raised about the pernicious use of your online documents by Google but it’s not alot worse than the pernicious activities of hackers and viruses.
For these types of things to work for you it requires adaptation on the part of the user.
